Turkish scientist Assoc. Prof. Hilmi Volkan Demir has been granted the “Research Excellence Award”, given by the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) of Singapore to its researchers whose work has made outstanding contributions to scientific knowledge.

Assoc. Prof. Demir is the Founding Director of the “LUMINOUS: Centre of Excellence for Semiconductor Lighting and Displays” laboratory, which was established at NTU in collaboration with Bilkent University of Turkey. The research of Assoc. Prof. Demir, who published numerous articles in international scientific magazines on energy-saving LED lighting technology, has led to more than 30 patents used by industry.
